San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates will miss at least the first game of the regular season after being suspended by his team for holding out. Gates and his agent refuse to accept the Chargers long term contract offer. The Chargers are reportedly offering a 5 year contract, while Gates is demanding a 3 year contract so that he can become a free agent sooner.
This certainly drops Gates draft value. He is the second best tight end in the league when he is playing, but right now it looks like Gates is prepared to miss some games. We'll keep an eye on this.
